Cherokee and Nantahalla are still running high water levels. The Tuck is
generating tomorrow so I guess we will not be fishing Thursday.
Hopefully, next week will be better. Those who fished yesterday at
Unicoi Outfitters had a good day with several over 20 inches. See the
24" rainbow=>
Stay tuned...Parks
.
P.S. This was not the largest of the day but the largest we got a picture of. Robert caught a 26" rainbow. P

Special Events in JUNE Cancelled at Hatchery
It is with deepest regret that Deputy Hatchery Manager Mr. Kelly Taylor has asked me to let you know that the Seniors Fishing Rodeo scheduled for June 5 and the Family Fishing Festival for June 6 must be officially cancelled due to the ongoing construction project here at the hatchery. We apologize for any inconvenience and wanted to inform you in advance to allow a respectable amount of time for you to reschedule other plans for these dates. Please understand that event planning was motivated by expectations that the project would be complete by this time. Unfortunately, the most recent rainy weather and other unforeseen circumstances have continued to hugely impact the time frame for completion.
Please help us spread the word about the cancellations by telling your friends, family, and groups who attend these events as participants or volunteers. Also, please accept our apologies if you receive this message multiple times as we are trying to make every effort to inform contacts through group email lists and sometimes have technical issues with looping due to our Internet connectivity.

New look Hatch Magazine launches today
Hatch Magazine is an online magazine / site dedicated to the sport of
fly fishing. Featuring articles that focus on destinations from around
the world, articles about gear for the gear addicts, news relevant to
the fly fisherman, conservation related features, photography
collections, video and more, Hatch Magazine is intended to cover the
world of fly fishing as we see it.
The term "magazine" should be taken lightly. There are no plans for issues and no plans for print (although neither of these are ruled out). But since Hatch Magazine doesn't fit any other conventional monikers, "magazine" it is.

Weekly Fishing trips
Hey, I'm back in the game. Nancy is recovering well from knee replacement so I can get away for a day or so fishing. The only problem is the weather and resulting water level. The streams we usually fish are blown out with more rain anticipated. I hope by Thursday we can fish somewhere. Stay tuned and keep check of our Fishing Trip Schedule and email blast.....

April monthly meeting
Our program for our April monthly meeting on the 9th will be the
presentation of the video "Blood Knot". Selected for the 2014 Fly
Fishing Film Tour (F3T), the Rise Fly Fishing Film Tour (Europe), and
the Rise Fly Fishing Tour (Australia/NZ). Blood Knot was also selected
as the Best Film of the Year and Best Freshwater Film of the Year at the
2014 Drake Film Awards.
"Blood Knot"
A TwoFisted Heart Production Film
The Shenandoah Valley lies just two hours outside of our nation's capital and offers some incredibly diverse freshwater fishing. It is hard to find mountain brook trout, spring creek rainbows and browns in such close proximity to some of the best smallmouth, carp, and musky fishing in the country. Twin brothers, Brian and Colby Trow, are natives of Virginia who took their love of fly fishing together and put it all on the line to 'live the dream' in the center of this unheralded fishing destination. More than 10 years and one nasty economic recession later, Brian and Colby understand the risks and costs of running a small business. Success comes with the price of long hours and being away from family, but it is time on the water together that keeps them connected.

Southeast Regional TU Meeting - April 18th, Asheville
Hello Fellow Fly fishers,
I
hope you are doing well.
As
a member of the North Carolina Council of Trout Unlimited, I am personally
inviting you to the Southeast Regional Meeting on Sat.,
April 18 to be held at the Crowne Plaza in Asheville, N.C.
The
regional meeting is a great way to learn more about what TU is doing in the
Southeast, and to meet fellow anglers and TU members. It’s also an opportunity
to meet with more than a dozen regional and nation-wide staff and for staff to
hear from members like you.
I
encourage you to join us on April 18 to learn, network and share your
thoughts and ideas with us as we work together for coldwater conservation in
the region. Click here to view the meeting agenda.
There
are 10 sessions covering a wide range of interests, from Strategic Planning to
Angler Science. There is something for everyone. Please note on
the agenda that I am co-presenting a leadership workshop with National TU staff
member Beverly Smith. I would love to see you in the audience.
It’ll
also be a lot of fun! We’ll be hosting an evening barbecue at the Biltmore with
live bluegrass music. And, a suite of local volunteers are hosting fishing on
Sunday. Mid-April is prime time to fish in the Asheville area. Click here for information on local fishing opportunities.
Click here to register. Registration is only $75. Another option
is to register for just the barbecue dinner at the Biltmore which is only $35.
If
you have any questions, call or email me.
I
hope to see you at the regional meeting.
Sincerely,
Mike
