Burton Hatchery Volunteer Workers CANCELLED until September

Due to the extreme heat and the natural slow-down this time of year, John Lee and I decided we would cancel the volunteers until September.

This fall we hope to complete another “big” project at the hatchery…remove a rotting wall of landscape timbers and replace it with cross ties. Once a plan has been made and a date selected, we’ll put out the call for volunteers. If you know of a TU member with any experience in such construction, please let me know.

Several of our members went to Cherokee to fish the trophy section. Ricky Ozmar had a pretty good day. This 14 year old schooled us all. He ended the day with a 24 inch rainbow shown to the right.....

Workday at Jones Creek this Saturday, June 20th

There will be a Council sponsored workday at Jones Creek this Saturday, June 20th, from 9am-12 noon. Gold Rush is the lead chapter and will be serving lunch after the work is done. We welcome anybody who would like to attend and help restore this beautiful little brown trout stream not far from Dahlonega.
I am attaching a set of directions to the stream. There will also be a caravan leaving from the Wagon Wheel Restaurant at 8:10 am.
If you plan to attend, could you please rsvp me so that we can plan for lunch?
I hope to see you there. Thanks,
Mike Thornton
