Wildlife Resources Division’s free events

Folks,

I can use your help with event publicity.   Please pass the word about the Georgia Wildlife Resources Division’s free events to celebrate National Hunting and Fishing Day this Saturday, September 23.  In north Georgia, we are featuring Outdoor Adventure Days at Unicoi and Sloppy Floyd State Parks, along with a kids fishing rodeo on the Chattahoochee River at Buford Dam.

Info on each statewide event is featured here:

Steve Hudson’s excellent newspaper article on both the Unicoi Outdoor Adventure Day and Buford Dam KFE  is here: http://www.northfulton.com/stories/discover-outdoor-adventure-at-outdoor-adventure-day,109888

For Facebookers, Unicoi State Park has a new post on OAD that you can “like” and share with friends.

Pass the word.

Then grab a carload of kids and come see us on Saturday.  You’ll be glad you did!

Thanks,

October weekly fishing schedule

The long awaited fall fishing season is upon us. I am suggesting the following schedule for October:

3rd Cherokee
10th Fires Creek
17th The Tuck at Webster with Ron's veterans group
24th Nantahalla
31st The Tuck at Bryson City

These are subject to water levels and the Tuck to generation schedules. If you want to go to any or all of these, let me know and I will share times and meeting places. I will also send weekly reminders for your convenience. Hope you can join us....

Unicoi OAD- Need Your Help - A Few More Vols

Remember Saturday’s event at Unicoi State Park!

My event roster is rounding out very well, but I still have two important staffing needs.  They are:

11)     3 vols to register guests at the skeet shooting venue and to windex the headphones (ear protection) between users.
22)     Up to 5 vols to serve as stream fishing guides, who find fishless kids and help them to rig correctly and catch a trout.

Thanks for your consideration during this home stretch.  Please pass the word on my last minute appeal for a few more vols and contact me here if you can help.  I do plan on sending out a roster and event instructions to all OAD vols and staff NLT tomorrow.

Foothills September Monthly Meeting

Date: 9/14/2017
Time: 6:30 P.M.
Location: United Community Bank, 468 W Louise Street, Clarkesville, GA 30523

Come join us this Thursday and bring a friend. The social time is around 6:00 - 6:30 with the program starting up at 7:00 and runs to about 8:00.

The guest speaker for the September meeting of Georgia Foothills Chapter Trout Unlimited will be Patsy Gentry. Patsy is an accomplished outdoor artist who was fortunate to marry a fly fisherman several years ago. She and her husband Ray reside in Sautee, Georgia and are active contributing member of Trout Unlimited. Patsy's paintings and sketches have raised a considerable amount of money for several Trout Unlimited chapters across Georgia. In addition to her artwork, Patsy will be enlightening us to how this world of ours looks from the spousal point of view. We hope you'll enjoy us for an entertaining evening with Patsy.
